8-20-'99 Bonus Feature....
For those who are curious, I'm currently deep into my 2000 books
and working four issues ahead of my pencilers. This is unusual
even for me but next year's annuals have not been assigned yet
and I have a coule of proposals hanging fire. So I've had no
choice but to move ahead on my regular books.
I've seen art for Birds of Prey #15 and Jackson Guice is doing
a great job. He assured me over the phone that he has an even
better grasp on the book by #16. But I didn't see any thing wrong
with what I've seen so far. The characterizations are on the
money and his level of "acting" and body language are
top drawer. Lots of character stuff coming up in that book and
it's in great hands with a master craftsman and storyteller.
Over on ROBIN, I've seen pencils from Pete Woods first issue
and I think readers are going to be pleased. He has a fresh approach
that will go along great with Tim Drake's change in environment.
I'm dying to see his interpretation of Man-Bat and family coming
up in issue #77. Jason Bard also guests in that issue!
I've only seen the cover of Greg and Drew's first Nightwing
issue but it's a stunner. I'm into the middle of Tad's big story
as he and Nightwing team up to go after Blockbuster. And that
leads into the BIG Nightwing/Birds of Prey crossover for next
summer.

I'm currently working on an inventory story that will feature
Tad Ryserstad's "origin" told in his own words. If
you're familiar with "Nite-Wing" you know he probably
didn't have a model upbringing. I'm also at workj on Birds of
Prey #19 which features Robin and Dick Grayson helping Babs install
her new "Big Iron" computer for her re-built lair.
A couple of surprise guest stars show up for this one. And Robin
gets Dick back for trying to freak him out in that tunnel back
in Robin #67.
