I just got a complimentary copy of WRITERS ON COMICS SCRIPTWRITING by Mark Salisbury. It's published by Titan Books and is worth picking up. It's a series of interviews with current comics writers about their work. Mark is a great interviewer and gets some teriffic stuff from Mark Waid, Warren Ellis, Grant Morrison and others (including me). I come off as an arrogant jerk but I blame my wariness of talking to a Brit writer. I half-expected my intro to read, "Worthless hack, Chuck Dixon would have to stand on a chair to kiss the arse of his English contemporaries. But we spoke to him anyway." Happily the section on me was very fair and Mark revised my commenst so I didn't sound like a doofus. If you want an intro to the world of a comic writer this is the one to get. The guys who've made it tell how they do it.
