This is my first entry into the "What's New" page.
I guess this'll serve to let you know what I'm working on
at the moment and to comment on any events happening behind the
scenes. (that I can talk about.) But don't expect any character
assassination of other freelancers or bitter commentary on the
unfairness of the comics biz. You can get that around the corner.

As of this writing I'm adding finishing touches and script
revisions to BATMAN: THE CHALICE a hardcover graphic novel with
painted art by John vanFleet. It'll be out in time for Christmas.
It's the story of Batman and the search for the Holy Grail, the
legendary Cup of Christ. And it's NOT an Elseworlds. It takes
place in continuity prior to the Contagion crossover. It features
lots of high profile guest stars.
John's done some great stuff on it. Some very experimental
work. And while "experimental" is sometimes a euphemism
for incomprehensible crap this stuff rocks! Utilizing his own
prodigious painting skills wedded to computer technology John's
come up with a new look for comics that's bold and very exciting.
I'm looking forward to working with him again on another project.
In my regular titles I'm just finishing up Nightwing and Robin's
involvement with No Man's Land which is fun. But I am looking
forward to getting back to my regular continuity. I have a lot
of plotlines dangling in both books and am anxious to get back
into them.
My new editor on ROBIN is Matt Idelson, fresh from the House
of Ideas. He's already made one great suggestion that will be
seen as a yearlong subplot once Robin returns from Gotham. Matt
did great work over at Marvel, particularly on Captain America
and I'm pleased to be working with him.
There's lots of stuff that's come up in the past week or so
that it would be premature to talk about now but I will keep
you posted.
For the morbidly curious. I saw THE PHANTOM MENACE this morning
and will reserve comment 'til it's been out a while. I am a stone-crazy
Jedi wannabe and will suffice it to say that I really enjoyed
it. Those who gave negative reviews just don't get it.
Anyhow, check out the other sites as Scott and I get them
up and running. (mostly Scott who is a jedi in his own right.)
I look forward with dread and anticipation to the opening of
the message board.
'til next time, take care and keep reading!
Chuck
